Cookies policy
This policy details how we use cookies on our website and what you are agreeing to when you use our online platform.

This policy details how we use cookies on our website and what you are agreeing to when you use our online platform.
1. For our website to function properly, we use cookies. To obtain your valid consent for the use and storage of cookies in the browser you use to access our website and to document this, we use a consent management platform: CookieFirst.
2. This technology is provided by Digital Data Solutions BV, Plantage Middenlaan 42a, 1018 DH, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
3. When you access our website, a connection is established with CookieFirst's server to give us the possibility to get valid consent from you to use certain cookies. CookieFirst then stores a cookie in your browser to activate only the cookies you consented to - and to properly document this. The data processed is stored until the predefined storage period expires or you ask us to delete it. Certain mandatory legal storage periods may apply notwithstanding the aforementioned.
4. CookieFirst is used to obtain the legally required consent for the use of cookies. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1)(c) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
5. People for Research has concluded a data processing agreement with CookieFirst. This is a contract required by data protection law that ensures our website visitors' data is only processed in accordance with our instructions and in compliance with the GDPR.
6. Our website and CookieFirst automatically collect and store information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. The following data is collected:
- Your consent status or the withdrawal of consent;
- Your anonymised IP address;
- Information about your browser;
- Information about your device;
- The date and time you have visited our website;
- The webpage url where you saved or updated your consent preferences;
- The approximate location of the user that saved their consent preference;
- A universally unique identifier (UUID) of the website visitor that clicked the cookie banner.
We use the Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok and Reddit Pixels on our website. These pixels track user behaviour after they have been redirected to our website by clicking on an advertisement from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok or Reddit. This helps us increase the relevance of our social media advertising and measure its impact for statistical and market research purposes.
The data collected in this manner is anonymous to us, meaning we do not see individual users' personal data. However, this data is stored and processed by the third-party platform in question (e.g. Meta). The third-party platform in question may link this information to your Facebook / Instagram / LinkedIn (etc.) account and use it for their own promotional purposes, in accordance with the third-party platform’s Data Usage Policy.
Anonymised information collected through these technologies may include:
- IP address
- Device and browser type
- Operating system
- Pages visited and time spent
- Links clicked
- Conversion events (e.g., signing up to our database or applying for a study)
We only enable tracking pixels, including advertising and analytics pixels, after receiving your explicit consent via our cookie banner. To opt out, select the "No, adjust" button on the pop-up cookie banner, then toggle off the "Advertising" option and click "Save settings".
You can also opt out of interest-based advertising by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out Page or by adjusting your browser settings to block pixels and cookies. Note that disabling these technologies in this way may limit functionality on our website.
