The importance of completing your PFR profile

When going through your People for Research account for the first time, you may think that we ask for a lot of information, some of it being sensitive data. The fact is that we need to know quite a bit about you, even at the stage of selecting who we invite to apply to our paid research studies, so we don't waste your time applying to opportunities you may be completely wrong for.
The bottom line is that, the more complete your profile is, the more likely you are to get invited and selected to take part in paid research!
Asking information such as name, date of birth, marital status may seem normal in this context, but you might get confused as to why we need to know so much about your employment, if you have accessibility needs or even your ethnicity and nationality.
Breaking down your PFR profile
Your account is composed of eight sections. Keep reading to find out what each section asks for and why we need to know this information.
Profile overview
As the name says, this section offers an overview of your profile and shows you how complete it is.
Personal information
This is your introduction to PFR. In this section we ask for your basic information such as name, age and gender, but there's more.
- Ethnicity – It's essential for us to know your ethnic origins to try and diversify our recruitment as much as possible. If people from different ethnicities are not invited to take part in research, the needs of some under-represented groups may never be met and the development of products and services may be skewed from the very start.
- Accessibility needs – one of our biggest goals at PFR is to help our clients build and improve their products to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, which is why we ask about your potential accessibility needs so often.
- Technology ability – you may think that usability testing is not for you if you are not very good with technology, but you couldn't be further from the truth. If it’s easy to use for a low-tech participant, it will be user-friendly for almost everyone.
Life choices
Tell us about your marital status, if you have children, what your household looks like, your highest education level and if you drive or own any vehicles.
Financial & employment
In this section, we ask you to give us an idea of your professional status and career, as well as the financial products you use. Depending on the information you provide here, it may trigger the account to ask more detailed information in the next section.
Company information (optional)
Not everyone will see this area, only the people who select specific options in the previous 'Financial & employment' section. The people that complete this section are considered members of our Business Panel, a sub-group of our community of participants composed of business owners, senior professionals and people working in niche industries or positions.
Contact information
Pretty self-explanatory! This is where we keep your email address, phone number and address.
Preferences
You can let us know what types of communication you would like to receive from us, if any.
